Cladder is an exciting online puzzle game that challenges players to solve ten words based on clues within a 60-second time limit. By changing one letter from a given starter word, players need to find the correct answer for each clue. It's a fast-paced game that tests your vocabulary and quick-thinking skills.
Clues and Starter Words: Players are presented with a series of clues, each accompanied by a three or four-letter starter word. The clues provide hints for the correct word, and players need to change one letter from the starter word to find the solution.
Word Progression: To solve the first clue, players change a letter from the starter word. For example, if the starter word is CASH and the clue is "to run fast," the answer would be DASH. The next clue builds on the previous word, requiring players to change another letter. For instance, changing the A in DASH to an I for the clue "a plate of food" would give the word DISH. This process continues until all ten clues are solved.
Time Limit and Assistance: Players have 60 seconds to solve all the clues. While incorrect answers don't incur penalties, players can wait for Cladder to highlight the letter that needs to be changed if they are stuck. However, waiting too long may eat into the time limit. If completely stumped, players have the option to skip a clue, but it costs them five seconds from their remaining time.
Daily Cladder and Archive: Similar to Wordle, a new Cladder puzzle is available each day. However, players also have access to the archive, where they can play past Cladder puzzles from previous days. The archive provides a numbered grid representing each day's puzzles.
Cladder offers three different modes for players to choose from:
Hard Mode: In this mode, players cannot use the skip option, and the game doesn't provide hints for the letter that needs to be changed. By opting for hard mode, players can showcase their skills and earn an asterisk next to their score, indicating they accepted the challenge.
Selection Mode: This mode allows players to tap on a tile to change its letter instead of typing out the entire word. It offers a more efficient gameplay experience, particularly for mobile players.
Teacher Mode: Designed for classroom settings, this mode eliminates the timer to encourage collaborative play among students. It provides a relaxed environment for learning and enjoyment.
