How to Play IdleWords
Playing IdleWords is simple yet offers deep strategic gameplay as you manage your letters and resources. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started:
- Start Spelling Words
- Your journey begins with basic letter tiles. Spell words by clicking and arranging tiles to form meaningful combinations. Each word you spell generates mounie, which is the main currency in the game.
- Mounie Multiplier: The value of the tiles used to spell a word multiplied by the number of letters in the word. For example, spelling a 4-letter word will multiply the output of each tile in that word by 4, giving you more money.
- Purchase New Letters
- Drag to Buy: At the bottom of the screen, you'll see a list of available letters. Drag the letter you wish to purchase onto your board. Each letter costs a certain amount of mounie, indicated below the letter. Buying new letters allows you to expand your ability to form more complex words.
- Upgrade Letters: Hover over a letter tile to see its current value. Click the pop-up price to upgrade the letter to the next one in the alphabet (e.g., A -> B -> C). Upgrading letters increases their value and how much they contribute to your overall earnings.
- Earn Mounie
- Your tiles will produce mounie based on the value listed in the bottom right corner of each tile. The more valuable the tiles are (the higher their position in the alphabet), the more mounie they generate.
- Combo Bonuses: The more letters you use to form words, the more bonus points you earn. Forming longer words results in higher multipliers, which significantly boosts your earnings.
- Research and Upgrade Tiles
- As you progress, you'll unlock the Research tab, which allows you to improve your tiles even further. To use research, drag a letter tile into an open slot in the research tab, and click "research." This will delete the tile but permanently enhance your letter, enabling you to purchase that letter directly, skipping the need to start from the base level.
- Permanent Upgrades: Researching letters allows you to buy higher-level tiles without going through the alphabet from scratch.
